There is always different ways on how you can get involved in the tourism industry in Morro Bay. The Morro Bay Tourism Bureau will have openings from time to time to join the team, volunteer or to join the board. We will post any open positions on this page for all of the opportunities.

There is an opening for a Community At Large position on the Morro Bay Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) Advisory Board and Morro Bay Tourism Bureau Board of Directors. Sales & Hospitality Coordinator

Are you a fun-loving type A personality who wants to show off your mad administrative and organizational skills? Are you seeking a fun, flexible and fast-paced career in hospitality? Well, look no further, because the Morro Bay Tourism Bureau is seeking a part-time Sales & Hospitality Coordinator to join our team. This integral position with the organization will have you assist in the creation of annual promotions; helping and supporting the Sales Manager with leads and sales support; outreach to the dynamic and fun business community; list and database management; and event, tradeshow and expo coordination. This position offers sick time, a flexible schedule (M-F) and some weekend help at events & shows.

Administrative
  • Prospecting, market research and sales support
  • Schedule & organize meetings & details
  • Board minutes & support
  • Database, list and calendar management
  • Ongoing tracking of time, projects and delegated projects
  • Order & purchase office supplies
  • Monthly reporting to the MBTB Executive Director]

Sales & Communications

  • Sales support & lead generation
  • Manage updates to the organizational websites (traditional & mobile)
  • Creation & distribution of e-marketing messages
  • Coordinate & execute stakeholder outreach
  • Proofing of outgoing marketing & communications

Relationship Development

  • Create & distribute welcome media kits/baskets
  • Morro Bay lodging, retail, restaurant and attraction partners
  • Specified Morro Bay community organizations & events

Event & Tradeshow Support

  • Event/Tradeshow booth coordination
  • Event/Tradeshow booth staffing
  • Volunteer recruitment
  • Staffing/Volunteer scheduling & training

Other Duties as Assigned by the MBTB Executive Director

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience working in an office setting
  • Hospitality, event coordination, customer service and/or clerical background (desired)
  • Knowledge of Morro Bay helpful (desired)
  • Customer service, organizational & proofing skills
  • Computer experience and proficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS)
  • Proficiency in writing descriptions is helpful, but not required
  • Comfort in creating e-marketing messages, uploading and maintaining lists in Constant Contact
  • Have a reliable vehicle
