Wishlist-Worthy Fall Festivities

In our quiet waterfront town, September only means the beginning of the best time of year, with beautiful weather and no crowds. Morro Bay holds the key to all autumn dreams come true: nightly pastel sunsets, warm afternoon sunshine, and some of the most exciting events on the Central Coast.

Summertime fun doesn’t end when school starts. We know you’ll want a weekend getaway to relax and rejuvenate this fall, and luckily enough Morro Bay hosts wishlist-worthy weekend events to deliver everything you’ll need to go back on Monday with a smile. Book your beach getaway around these exciting events:

1.       Concerts on the Bay Series – First Concert: September 30 - Blues legend Rick Estrin and the Nightcats and Elektric Voodoo

Be the first to experience the only concert series with a waterfront venue on the Central Coast. With the photogenic bay and iconic Morro Rock as the backdrop, this performance is set to be a treat for music and outdoor lovers alike. Nestled between ever-popular Giovanni’s Fish Market and STAX Wine Bar, this small venue makes for a personal experience with no more than 500 guests. Delicious food from the fish market as well as an array of local wines and beverages will be available for your enjoyment. Upgrade your admission to VIP and relax at an intimate side-stage table exclusively for your group. As a VIP, you’ll get to savor a hot dinner and refreshing drinks served to you while you listen. Purchase your tickets NOW before they’re all gone.

This concert will host Elektric Voodoo, a "World Beat Rock & Roll" band from southern California that blends classic afrobeat, latin, rock & roll, psych, jazz, blues and many other influences into its own unique genre that tastefully straddles the line between modern and vintage. Rick Estrin, according to The San Francisco Chronicle, “is an amazing harmonica player, a soulful lead vocalist and a brilliant songwriter.” Rick Estrin serves up fresh and modern original blues injected with a solid dose of gritty roadhouse rock ‘n’ roll.  To purchase your ticket, click HERE.

Come on Friday (September 29) to enjoy FREE entertainment at the Siren: Rey Fresco

The night before the Rick Estrin & the Nightcats/Elektric Voodoo concert, The Siren will be hosting a FREE concert starring Rey Fresco, an American band from Ventura, California that performs an eclectic mix of rock, reggae, world, soul and Latin music. It features a 36 string arpa jarocha Veracruz harp as one of their lead instruments. The show starts at 8pm, however be sure to arrive early to get the perfect viewing spot and a delicious drink.

Don’t forget – September is WINE MONTH, and when you stay 2 nights in Morro Bay, you receive a FREE bottle of MCV Wine (from participating hotels). 2.       Harbor Festival – October 7

Join Morro Bay for the 36th annual Harbor Festival – a lively all-day street fair along the waterfront on the Embarcadero. Festival-goers will be able to purchase the freshest seafood from our local fishermen, including oysters, shrimp, barbecued albacore, rock fish, and homemade clam chowder right from the dock. There will be watercraft demonstrations in the bay and plenty of musical entertainment all day long. Giovanni’s Fish Market will also be hosting “Gio-Fest” during the festival, a vendor fair inside the parking lot next to the fish market. Our boutique businesses will be presenting their wares alongside some local ocean-agencies offering interesting information about the bay. This festival is great fun for the entire family – prepare to make it a yearly family tradition! For more information about this FREE festival, click HERE.

3.       Concerts on the Bay Series – Second Concert: October 14 - Jungle Fire and Orgone

Performing in the second concert of the series, Jungle Fire digs deep into afro/latin funk music with a highly explosive psychedelic and uniquely Angeleno flavor! Serving up a healthy dose of originals and deep latin/afro funk covers all cooked up together in a live mixtape style set ensuring an energy that is nothing short of fire. Orgone delivers dirty, organic, California soul with heart; music that grabs you by the collar, pulls you to your feet and shoves you wantingly onto the dance floor. It all started with two kids from the San Fernando Valley, whose shared affinity for gritty soul records of the 60s and 70s collided with the colorful music cultures brewing in Los Angeles during the late 90s. To purchase your ticket to this concert, click HERE.
