Thursday: Thanksgiving

The town is blanketed with delicious smells on this day: slow-roasted barbecued turkeys, fresh whipped mashed potatoes, and all the sweet pie you can eat. Morro Bay brings the best to the table when it comes to Thanksgiving feasts, and always welcomes visitors to celebrate with us. Several of our locals’ favorite restaurants are serving up a special Thanksgiving feast, complete with all the refreshments you’d want to wash it all down. Or, take home a delicious roasted turkey from Dockside Restaurant to serve as the centerpiece of your Thanksgiving meal at home.

Thanksgiving Day is also the arrival date of tall ship Lady Washington. She will be in port for tours until December 12. The Lady Washington was the first American vessel to make landfall on the west coast of North America in 1788, as well as the first to visit Honolulu, Hong Kong and Japan. This almost-exact replica ship sails around the West Coast giving free public tours and weekend adventure sails, making a fun and creative retelling of maritime history.

Friday:  Crowd-Free Shopping

Get your Christmas shopping done early, and find a one-of-a-kind gift in one of our local specialty stores, vintage shops, art galleries, or candy stores. Want to get a gift but don’t have room in your car to take it home? You can also ship your gifts home using the post office.

Bring your kids along and redeem your KIDS PASSPORT. This November and December, all children 12 and under that stay in a hotel receive a passport to more than $140 in savings around town. Enjoy a FREE hot chocolate, FREE kite, FREE admission to Sub Sea Tours and MORE! For more information about the Kids Passport, click HERE

Saturday: Shop Small Saturday (Nationwide)

When considering shopping for the holidays, think local, small and independent. Morro Bay has over 160 independent small businesses ranging from boutique retail, artisan and vintage shops, restaurants and boutique hotels offering unique gifts, local seafood, fun activities and great service by small business operators who most likely are ringing up your order. No big box here.

Before hitting the road to home, take one last chance to enjoy one of our local coffee shops. Almost every coffee shop in Morro Bay has delicious homemade breakfast pastries and dishes for you to enjoy on the go. Take advantage of some fresh-baked goodness and remember the location for next time you’re in town.

All Weekend Long:

Save time for exploration, and take the whole family to the Embarcadero for a FREE public tour of the Lady Washington. Public tours are given daily. During the tour, guests are able to walk onto the ship and envision the lifestyle of a sailor from the 1800’s.

On Saturdays and Sundays, the Lady Washington will be embarking on adventure sails. This event includes demonstrations of tall ship handling, sea shanty singing, and maritime amusements. A day to remember! A ticket is required for all passengers, including babes in arms. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
