The second annual California Surfing Day is on the horizon and rolling in September 20th.  This holiday celebrates California’s official sport and surfing lifestyle by honoring the history, surfing culture, and future of surfing.  So, in preparation we’re sharing the best location to catch a wave in Morro Bay.  Along with the best places find equipment, check on conditions, competitions to test your skills, and hotel specials.  No matter if you’re a pro or a beginner, the perfect way to spend your California Surfing Day is surfing Morro Bay.

Perfect Break Locations

Grab your board and head out to Morro Bay’s miles of wide-open, unspoiled, sandy beaches offering awesome surf breaks.  Morro Bay waves are extremely consistent.  Fun when they are small and powerful when they are big.  With the high number of surfable days on the Central Coast along with Morro Bay’s varied coastline you can find a new spot or sand bar about every 100 yards.

1.  Morro Rock
This renowned iconic surfing location is the place to catch a wave on the Central Coast.  Picture perfect and lots of fun it is the must surf spot when in Morro Bay.

2.  Morro Beach
6 miles of varied coastline means plenty of room to spread out, and the consistent waves mean it’s always a good idea to grab the board and head to Morro Beach.

3.  Morro Bay & Sandspit
The entrance to bay can produce some waves (especially in large swells).  The South Jetty beach breaks are especially popular.  Although a little more difficult to access, the Sandspit is also a local favorite.

4.  Cayucos Pier
Just at the other end of the beach is the Cayucos Pier.  This spot is another popular location just a short distance from Morro Bay.

5.  Mouse Rock
Mouse Rock is a reef break that has been known to produce larger waves.  However, it is a bit further off the coast than other local locations, so be prepared to paddle.

Surf Report

The Morro Bay surf report is reported on multiple platforms offering detailed surf forecasts and live surf reports including information on local swells, winds, and pressure charts so you know what to expect before heading to the beach to go surfing Morro Bay.  You can even check one of five live surf cameras for the most up to date conditions.
