Take a dip, grab a bike, or tie up your sneakers--you can do it all in Morro Bay.  As proof by the Morro Bay Triathlon next weekend (Sunday, November 3rd).  Athletes will swim, bike and run north towards Cayucos and onto Highway 1, starting and ending at Morro Rock.  But you don’t have to be a competitor to participate, nor do you have to be a triathlete to enjoy these recreational activities with a beautiful backdrop.

Race day:  There is limited space for participants to register at packet pickup, the day before the event.  So be sure to get to Coleman Park early--first come, first serve.  Not an athlete?  You can volunteer to help during the event.  Or simply come out to cheer on those competing.  The end of Embarcadero Road will be blocked by race activities just before Coleman Drive.  Find a parking spot and walk down.  Watch the start, take a stroll along the waterfront, browse the shops, enjoy a cold refreshment, and make your way back to the rock for an exciting finish.  And if you miss the start, don’t worry, transitions offer a flurry of activity as racers partake in quick changes from one leg to the next (near the Coast Guard Building), or relax on the beach and watch as runners make their way back to the rock for a big finish.

Adventure Morro Bay:  Even when there is not a race in town, Morro Bay offers a great venue and amazing views to get outside and active, or to take on that next physical challenge.  There are surfboards, kayaks, paddleboards, and bikes to rent, and miles of beaches and paths to explore.  So, get out there and find your adventure.

Refuel:  Whether you are pushing yourself to the brink of your physical and mental ability, or just enjoy getting outside and moving, you’re sure to have worked up an appetite.  Grab a smoothie from Krava Bowl, tacos from Shine Cafe, a salad from Goddess Goods, or enjoy some great seafood from a variety of local restaurants.  And then get back to it--there’s more to explore.

Weather Alert:  If you need another excuse to get moving this weekend the weather is going to be beautiful in Morro Bay!  Mostly sunny, mild weather will make Sunday a great race day.  Sunrise at 7:26 and sunset at 6:06.  We’ll see you out there.
