Sandspit Beach
This beach is filled with miles of pristine sand dunes, loads of wildlife, and uniquely, is only accessible from Morro Bay by water. Make a day of it and paddleboard, kayak, canoe or boat over with a picnic lunch - you’ll likely have the place to yourself…aside from the birds. Located south of Morro Rock, the Sandspit separates the calm waters of Morro Bay from the swells of the Pacific and it’s a short hike between the two. Surfers often paddle their boards across the harbor mouth from Morro Rock to hit up the South Jetty surf break so keep an eye out – it’s a pretty cool sight. PS: There are no services on this beautiful four-mile beach, so you’ll need to pack in and out any food or drink. Also, Plover nesting season is March – September so please avoid fenced areas and enjoy the wildlife from afar.
