Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer.  It means longer days at the beach, cookouts in the park and late nights chasing sunsets.  Here's to the last minute getaway...pack up the car and head to Morro Bay for a weekend of Memorial Day summer fun!

Beach  -  With over 6 miles of continuous beach, there’s lots of space to spread out and lots of room for fun.  Pick up a kite from Beachfront Kites and head to the dunes.  Or you can stop by The Bike Shop and rent one of their new electric bikes to take on the bike path that runs beside our waterfront.  And it’s not a trip to the Morro Beach without looking for sand dollars….just make sure not to disturb the living ones.

Outdoor Adventure  -  While you’re in town, make sure to take advantage of the numerous outdoor activities that you can enjoy in Morro Bay.  Take a hike along the Morro Bay National Estuary, explore the tide pools, and checkout the great nature programming by visiting the Morro Bay event calendar

Deals  -  This is the last week to receive a Spring Savings Booklet when you stay in any Morro Bay Hotel.  The booklet has over $150 in savings for fun activities like kayaking and whale watching!  Book your room to secure your savings today.  #coastalandreasonable

Fresh Seafood  -  After a day full of adventure around Morro Bay you’ll need to refuel, and what better way than with a cookout along the waterfront in Tidelands Park?  Stop by one of our two fish markets (Dockside or Giovanni’s) to get some fresh Morro Bay seafood to cook on one of the public grills.  Or order food to go from one of the local restaurants and enjoy it picnic style along the waterfront with a view of Morro Rock.

Art  -  From the Morro Bay Mural Mile, to the corner gallery, art is around every corner in Morro Bay.  Each Memorial Day in City Park you’ll find over 100 booths representing 125 independent artisans and craft workers.  Don’t miss the Morro Bay Art Center’s 64th annual Art in the Park from 10am-5pm all weekend long.

Ride the Trolley  -  The Morro Bay trolley is back for the summer!  It makes it easy to get from Morro Bay State Park on the south side of town to the shops and restaurants in North Morro Bay.  And riding the old-fashioned trolley makes for a great photo op.

Sunset at the Rock  -  More sunlight this time of year means more time to find the perfect sunset spot.  As the sun begins to set around 8 pm, secure a spot at one of the first come, first served public fire pits near Morro Rock (please be aware that fires are not allowed on the beach).  It’s the ideal spot for s’mores under the stars.

Don't wait, this weekend is the perfect time to celebrate the start of summer in Morro Bay!
